Robert J. Butler Memorial Golf Tournament:
4th Annual Golf Classic
The 4th annual Robert J Butler Memorial Golf Classic was a success! Thanks to the Chippanee Golf Club for hosting our tournament and the staff at the Chippanee Golf Club for all their hard work. Brian Farrell Sr., Debbie Farrell, Jill Schoenfuss our tournament organizers, and the Golf Committee all deserve a round of applause for dedication to making this a great day. A heartfelt THANK YOU to all of our sponsors, donors, volunteers, golfers and Board of Directors. Without all of you, this day wouldn’t have been possible.
Giving Back
In this past year our residents have participated in volunteer work at the Meriden Humane Society and knit blankets for The Hospital of Central Connecticut: Family Birthplace. In October volunteer youth from our P.A.S.S. Group Homes and Supervised Apartments for Independent Living program will be assisting with the Greater Waterbury Homeless Connect Project.
For two Saturdays this month the youth will create colorful tie dyed t-shirts with the National Project Homeless Connect logo ironed onto them. These shirts will then be worn by the volunteers and staff of the Waterbury Continuum of Care and the United Way of Greater Waterbury during their Project Homeless Connect event on October 24, 2008. This is a great activity that combines our youths desire to be creative and our desire to instill in them a sense of community connection.
Falling Forward
Summer is now officially over and the fall season has begun. Much like spring, fall set off another round of cleaning and preparing for the upcoming colder nights and holiday season. If you are considering donating items from your home that are still in good condition such as clothing or furniture to various charities please consider taking a look at our Wish Lists to see if our programs can benefit from any of those items you may wish to donate.
