LISA, Inc Awarded Over $4,000 by the Connecticut Community Foundation to Support Anti-Sex Trafficking Efforts

We are excited to announce that the Connecticut Community Foundation has awarded LISA, Inc. with an over $4,000 donation to support anti-sex trafficking efforts. Sex trafficking is a burgeoning issue, especially for youth who grow up in the foster care system. According to the Connecticut Juvenile Justice Alliance, "60 percent of sexually trafficked children come from foster or group homes." This is an issue that LISA Inc. is going to great lengths to combat, and we are truly grateful for the funds provided by Connecticut Community Foundation to support this pursuit. LISA, Inc. raises $1,500 during the Give Local event, sponsored by the Connecticut Community Foundation.

Over April 25th and 26th the Connecticut Community Foundation hosted their annual Give Local event. The event "empowers people in the region to raise as much money as possible for local nonprofit organizations during a 36-hour online give-a-thon." LISA, Inc. is thankful to be the recipient of a $1,500 gift due to the generosity of the people in the Greater Waterbury and Litchfield Hills regions. We are excited to announce that the Liberty Bank Foundation has awarded LISA, Inc. with a $2500 donation to support Life Skills Programming. Youth Excellence Project Receives Multiple Grants to Continue the Adolescent Male Program.

The Youth Excellence Project was granted $10,000 from the Fund for Greater Hartford. The volunteer-based adolescent male's group develops their leadership and team-building skills in preparation for a weeklong trip to the Channel Islands National Park in Santa Barbara, CA. Read Success Story »

Plainville Group Home Residents Attend Independent Living Conference in Denver

A group of girls from our Plainville Group Home recently attended a conference in Colorado. Aided by their house supervisor, our residents learned about self-confidence, how to find the strengths within themselves, and what skills are necessary to lead a successful, independent lives. Our girls returned in high spirits and brains buzzing with the information they gained. Thank you to our donors who were able to help us get our girls to this event!

LISA, Inc teams up with Southington Youth Services to tackle teen substance abuse

LISA, Inc. is joining forces with the Southington Youth Services Bureau and the STEPS Coalition to offer a new, comprehensive range of supports to reduce substance abuse in Southington called  1-2-3 Prevention, Intervention and Recovery Program.  The multi-agency collaboration builds upon the strengths of each individual organization to offer specific programs to increase positive outcomes.  1-2-3 Prevention, Intervention and Recovery Program aims to improve Southington’s capacity to prevent adolescent drug use, intervene early, and offer recovery supports by supporting the families affected by use.
Funding for the 1-2-3 Prevention, Intervention and Recovery Program provided by a generous grant from the Bradley Henry Barnes & Leila Upson Barnes Memorial Trust at the Main Street Community Foundation.   Read Success Story »

The Community Foundation of Greater New Britain Grants LISA, Inc. $11,000 to Create a Trauma-Informed Group Home Environment

Plainville Group Home is currently undergoing a massive facelift, including new furniture, paint, floors, offices and hang-out areas. The renovations are needed to operate more efficiently and create a home-like atmosphere for the residents in our care. LISA, Inc's Plainville Group Home wants to be the place girls want to live, and it will soon be one of the most sought-after girl's group homes in the state.
