A Message from our Executive Director

Thank you for taking the time to visit our website. Over the past few years, LISA, Inc. has worked hard to inform our community about who we are and what we do. Here you can find information about our history, our mission, the programs and services we offer, upcoming events, and learn about the agency leadership and potential job opportunities.

For more than 40 years, LISA, Inc. has provided quality care and skill-building opportunities for Connecticut's most vulnerable children and youth. The young people we serve range in age from 14-23. Some reside in group homes as a result of having nowhere else to go, others reside in supervised apartments as they transition out of the care and custody of the Department of Children and Families, and some reside with foster care families and attend meaningful life skills and/or leadership building programs. Our target population includes some of the most traumatized, loss-stricken adolescents in the state. They require supportive services and considerable staff resources.

In 2014, we expanded our target population to include adolescent girls who have dual system involvement. This is a challenging group because of the number of years they have been involved in the system, often entering the child welfare system very early in life, and later entering the juvenile justice system. This is an unfortunate but common pathway for girls; it can happen when a child has considerable needs and the services available are not enough.

We at LISA, Inc. are committed to helping every single young person develop into strong, competent, successful members of society. Because we receive support from people like you, we know we can do great things for our kids. We hope you will consider supporting us by making a donation, attending a LISA, Inc. event, volunteering, or applying for a position that is available.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know us.

Kimberly S. Selvaggi
